Benefits for Hyatt elites:

  • World of Hyatt Discoverists, Explorists, and Globalists can enjoy a $20 CAD Air Canada flight credit ($10 CAD when used for one-way travel) annually upon linking accounts and annually upon every linking anniversary if you still have status. If you obtain status after linking, you’ll get the flight credit at that time.
  • Linked and registered Explorists and Globalists can enjoy one annual attempt to fast-track to Aeroplan Elite Status with a 90-Day Status Challenge, starting in fall 2026.

Benefits for Aeroplan elites:

  • Aeroplan elites can make 1 attempt annually to unlock World of Hyatt status sooner with a 90-day status challenge. Eligible members who stay 10 eligible nights during the 90-day Status Challenge period will receive Explorist status. Eligible members who stay 20 eligible nights during the 90-day Status Challenge period will receive Globalist status. Status earned through the Status Challenge is effective through the remainder of the same calendar year as registration and the following 14 months.
  • Aeroplan elites can also convert Aeroplan points to World of Hyatt points at a ratio of 2 to 1, with a minimum of 500 Aeroplan points at a time, up to 100,000 Aeroplan points per day or 250,000 Aeroplan points per week.

This is potentially a way for AMEX points to be transferred into Hyatt points, though at a meager 2:1 ratio. However, if you transfer from AMEX to Air Canada with a 30% transfer bonus for example, that would be an effective 1:0.65 ratio.

Benefits for all Hyatt members:

All linked Hyatt members can do the following:

  • Redeem 50K World of Hyatt points for a 30K Aeroplan point Flight Reward Certificate.
  • Convert World of Hyatt points to Aeroplan points: Convert 2 World of Hyatt points for 1 Aeroplan point, redeemable for flights and more. Minimum of 5,000 World of Hyatt points per transaction.
  • Redeem 25K Aeroplan points for a Category 1-4 World of Hyatt Free Night Award, or 75K Aeroplan points for a Category 1-7 World of Hyatt Free Night Award
  • Earn 500 Aeroplan points per eligible stay at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts when you elect Aeroplan points instead of World of Hyatt points.
  • Be the first to know about exclusive offers available to linked members.

The free night certificates might have some potential. A category 4 certificate can be worth 20K Hyatt points on “moderate” nights, 22.5K points on “upper” nights, and 25K points on “top” nights. A category 7 certificate can be worth 35K Hyatt points on “moderate” nights, 45K points on “upper” nights, and 45K points on “top” nights.

If you transfer AMEX or Chase points to Aeroplan with a 30% bonus, you would need 19.2K points for a category 1-4 certificate or 57.6K points for a category 1-7 certificate. Notably, you can’t combine free night certificates with a confirmed suite upgrade or guest of honor award and certificates expire after just 6 months, so they’re not as valuable as Hyatt points.

Benefits for Canadian Aeroplan cardholders:

Cardholders of Canadian issued Aeroplan Core Credit Cards receive 1 World of Hyatt Bonus Point + 1.5 Aeroplan points per eligible $1 CAD spent at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts, on top of base and elite Hyatt point earnings.

Canadian issued Aeroplan Premium Credit Cardholders receive:

  • Complimentary World of Hyatt Discoverist status
  • Two attempts annually to unlock World of Hyatt status sooner with a 90-day status challenge.
  • 5 Tier-Qualifying Night credits each calendar year, which count toward attaining the next level of World of Hyatt elite status
  • 2 World of Hyatt Bonus Points + up to 2.5 Aeroplan points per eligible $1 CAD spent at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts, on top of base and elite Hyatt point earnings.

Chase Aeroplan® Credit Card cardholders don’t get any extra earning perks with this partnership, but new cardholders do earn Aeroplan status, which will qualify you for the Aeroplan elite perks above.

Most of the value from this partnership goes to Aeroplan elites and Canadian cardholders, but we’ll have to see what the Aeroplan challenge for Hyatt elites looks like when it’s released in fall 2026.

Will you get any value out of this partnership?
