Chase Sapphire Lounges Will No Longer Accept Priority Pass, Will Give More Lounge Time During Connections

Chase operates Sapphire lounges in Boston, Dallas/DFW, JFK, LaGuardia, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, and Washington/IAD.
Currently, Priority Pass cardholders get 1 free annual visit to Sapphire lounges and discounted $75 visits afterward. That means non-Chase cards such as The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture X Business Card, Citi Strata Elite provide Sapphire lounge access, while the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card does not.
That will change on 8/15 when Sapphire lounges exit the Priority Pass network, and those cardholders will no longer receive 1 free annual visit or $75 discounted visits.
With lounges reeling from overcrowding, this move makes sense, and it’s good news for Chase cardholders who have to waitlist to enter the lounge.
Additionally, Sapphire lounge access is currently available within 3 hours of a departing flight. Effective 8/15, that will extend to within 5 hours of a connecting departing flight.
After DansDeals lobbying, Chase added kosher food options to the Sapphire lounges in Boston, LaGuardia, and Philadelphia. And soon, Chase will be adding kosher restaurants to the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables network.
Access rules by card:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® and JPMorgan Reserve cardholders can access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want with 2 guests at no charge. Additional guests cost $27 each, and children under 2 are at no charge. Additional cardholders, which cost $195/year on those cards, can also access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want with 2 guests at no charge and the same price for additional guests.
- JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton cardholders can access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want with 2 guests at no charge. Additional guests cost $27 each, and children under 2 are at no charge. Additional cardholders, which are free, can also access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want via their Priority Pass card with 2 guests at no charge and the same price for additional guests.
- Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ Card cardholders can access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want with 2 guests at no charge. Additional guests cost $27 each, and children under 2 are at no charge. Additional cardholders do not have lounge access.
