Starbucks purchases used to earn 1 Delta mile per mile in addition to earning Starbucks Stars. That ended 2 years ago when the earning model switched from earnings on purchases to less lucrative earnings on card reloads.

Earnings will switch back from card reloads to purchases effective today, with purchases earning 1 mile per dollar in addition to stars.

However, existing linked members will only earn miles if they have taken a Delta flight over the 12 months. This requirement goes into effect on 10/6/26.

Newly linked members can earn miles on purchases for 12 months before the Delta flight requirement goes into effect.

You will earn double stars if you buy Starbucks on the same day as a departing Delta flight.
